Games are structures with rules; this makes them capable of modeling anything. I design games that model perception, interaction and organization. I'm interested in systems that evolve new structures. I involve humans in order to introduce self-organizing forces.
Games are used to explore poorly understood systems and for entertainment. It is difficult to design games that accomplish both because each requires a different rythym. But so what if a game isn't easy to play? Isn't life a game?
Games have not become an art because art reflects people, and people change slowly. Games have not become literature because people are attached to the serial form of the printed word. Games have started to become science as human behavior has become a scientific topic. Games are in their infancy.
